Cut Rag Tobacco Processors

Project Start: November 2022

Project Completion: June 2024

Project Key Metric: 43,000m2 of factory premises and 27,000m2 of warehousing / 4 million bricks

Location: Harare, Zimbabwe

Project Type/Name:  CRP Tobacco Processors

Scope of Work:

On a greenfield site, construct the largest tobacco processing factory and warehousing facility in Africa comprising storage areas, primary and secondary processing, offices, state-of-the-art energy centre, and infrastructure.

Interesting or Unusual Challenges Faced:

Due to the high plasticity of the in-situ soil on the site, piled and capped foundations were necessary for the entire project. Additionally, the soil conditions necessitated the casting of one of the main floor sections as a fully suspended slab. This specific slab, spanning over pile caps, amounted to over 3,500m3 of concrete.

Motorcare

Project Start: April 2022

Project Completion: March 2023

Project Key Metric: 4000m2 footprint under roof

Location: Maputo, Mozambique

Project Type/Name: New panel-beating workshop, offices and reception buildings

Scope of Work:

Demolition of existing structures and foundations, and removal of all spoil from the urban area. Construction of a purpose designed panel-beating workshop, reception and offices.

Interesting or Unusual Challenges Faced:

Situated in close proximity to sea level, the site's water table is just 0.5m to 1m beneath the natural ground level. This shallow water table posed significant challenges during the construction of underground services and pits. Coping with the substantial volumes of dewatering required, became a major challenge.
